Michelle Cruz Gonzales, the author of The Spitboy Rule: Tales of a Xicana in Female Punk Band came of age in punk during the 1980s, played in multiple bands, forming Spitboy in 1990 in which she played drums and wrote lyrics during the 1990s. Gonzales, a perimenopunk, holds an MFA from Mills College and serves youth teaching English and Creative Writing at Las Positas College, a community college, the punk rock of higher ed.
