Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume

Why do I need to pick a viewing date and time?

As we anticipate this special exhibition to be very popular, we’ve implemented timed ticketing, with entrance every 20 minutes. First timed entry into the exhibit is at 10:00am daily.  Final timed entry is 40 minutes prior to museum close. Many time slots will sell out, so buy tickets in advance online or over the phone to secure your preferred viewing date and time.

I’ve selected my viewing date and time. When do I need to show up?

Give yourself plenty of time to check in with Visitor Services upon arrival to the museum to receive your admission sticker, utilize coat check, etc. Please arrive to the special exhibition gallery 15 minutes prior to your selected viewing time. You’re welcome to explore all other EMP Museum galleries before or after your viewing time for Rebel, Jedi, Princess, Queen: Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume.

How long should I expect to spend in the gallery?

Although tickets are timed and dated to facilitate expedited entry, you may proceed at your own pace once inside the exhibit. Please note the exhibit closes 40 minutes after final timed entry.

Can I enter multiple times throughout the day?

With your timed entry, you can enter Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume only once. Re-entry is not allowed upon exiting the exhibit. However, you may exit EMP Museum and re-enter the day of your visit to see all other exhibits.

HOW LONG WILL THE EXHIBIT BE OPEN?

Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume will be on view from January 31–October 4, 2015.

How do I book a group visit?

How do I book a field trip for a school group?

Museum admission for K-12 school groups is $5 per person, or $10 per person for groups of college students/faculty. Access to the special exhibition Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume may be added for $4 per person (50% off the regular price).

Field trips must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance via our School Groups page.

Can I use my EMP member number to purchase tickets for non-members?

Museum admission is required in order to see Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume.

  • As an EMP member, you can purchase Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume special exhibition tickets in advance online using your member ID, and just bring your printed exhibit ticket to the door.
  • Non-members will need to either purchase a Combo Ticket for Museum Admission + Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume, or use a Member for a Day pass provided to them from an EMP member.

Getting Here

Is there parking at EMP?

Yes, there are many pay lots near the museum. There is also metered parking available on the side streets across 5th Avenue N. However, please refer to posted signage as there are restrictions. View map.

Can I take public transportation to EMP?

You bet! The bus stop at 5th Avenue N and Broad Street accommodates King Country Transit routes 3, 4, and 82. Plan your trip and find fare information at the King County Metro Transit Online Trip Planner or by calling 206-553-3000. View map.

How do I purchase EMP tickets?

Museum tickets are available in advance online, through our box office at 206-770-2702, or in person at either EMP lobby.

How can I donate to EMP?

EMP relies on contributions to support the creation of the museum's exhibitions, public and educational programs, publications, and collections. Learn more about making a donation here, or call 206-770-2773.

How long should I expect to spend at EMP?

There's enough at EMP to keep you busy all day long, so allocate at least a few hours!

Can groups visit EMP?

Can I be dropped off at EMP?

The turnaround at 5th Avenue N and Harrison is a convenient place for individuals and groups to be dropped off (however, no parking is allowed in the turnaround). Enter through the group entrance which will lead you right to the ticketing area. View map.

Are pets allowed at EMP?

Sorry. Pets are not allowed anywhere within the complex. However, service animals are permitted and should be checked in at the information desk in the lower lobby.

Is photography allowed in the galleries?

Photography is allowed in the museum; however, flash photography and tripods are not allowed. Any commercial or other unauthorized use of any transmission, picture, film/type, writing, drawing, or other depiction or description of any EMP name, mark, or logo is prohibited without prior specific written approval from the EMP PR department. Please fill out a Media Filming & Photography Request Form or call 206-770-2700 for more information.

EMP may photograph, film, or videotape visitors for educational and promotional purposes. Purchase and use of a ticket is implied consent for the use of the holder's likeness, voice, or video image for marketing purposes.

Does EMP have a bag and coat check?

Check! EMP offers complimentary bag and coat check for all museum guests.

Can I bring food or drink into EMP?

Food and drink are prohibited in the gallery spaces. However, they are permitted in the public areas, such as the ticketing lobbies and the retail stores. Feeling hungry? Check out POP Kitchen + Bar at EMP for delicious meals and refreshing beverages.
