It's Coming From Inside the House! - Watch 'The Hunger' (1983) With MoPOP + Special Guest Isabella L. Price

It's Coming From Inside the House! 'The Hunger' (1983) Movies at MoPOP

The Museum of Pop Culture's monthly horror watchalong film series is back in July and in honor of MoPOP’s newest exhibition, Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement, we’ve invited one of our favorite returning guests, horror host Isabella L. Price, to select a queer horror film that she feels deserves a place on our list of 100+ Horror Films to See Before You Die. Isabella is featured in the Seattle Queer Icons section of the exhibition, and as host of Nocturnal Emissions has become one of Seattle’s most vital voices in horror and genre cinema. Isabella chose cult classic The Hunger (1983), starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarandon in an incredibly stylized tale of a vampiric love triangle.

Here’s a handful of program elements that you can expect to see this Friday, July 16:

  • Pre-film introduction with MoPOP’s Robert Rutherford and Isabella L. Price, host of Nocturnal Emissions
  • Cheap-as-heck quarantine cosplay
  • Chat with Robert, Isabella and other fans during the film
  • Post-film discussion and Q&A with Robert and Isabella – be a part of the conversation!

As with all of our virtual events, you'll need to register in advance to attend. This program uses a pay-what-you-can ticket model — every little bit helps! All proceeds contribute to MoPOP programming, along with the preservation of our collection and our educational initiatives, all of which support our mission of making creative expression a life-changing force.

After registration, instructions on how to join the program will be e-mailed to you. If you happen to own a copy of the film, make sure to get it queued up at 7 p.m. PT on Friday, July 16. Otherwise, here's where you can find The Hunger (1983) online:
