'Candyman' (1992) and 'The Ring' (2002) Voted to MoPOP's List of 100+ Horror Films to See Before You Die
The results are in!
Candyman (1992) and The Ring (2002) earned the most votes from horror hounds in the Museum of Pop Culture's recent poll to determine which two films to add to our list of 100+ Horror Films to See Before You Die.
Fans of film's scariest genre were asked to select two flicks from our slate of 2021 programming for It's Coming From Inside the House!, MoPOP's monthly horror movie watchalong series, that we should add to our catalog of the best that cinematic horror has to offer. On top of Candyman and The Ring, the 10 films up for consideration included Sleepaway Camp (1983), Shivers (1975), Mimic: The Director's Cut (2011), Diary of the Dead (2007), Jacob's Ladder (1990), The Hunger (1983), American Psycho (2000), and Psycho Goreman (2020).
In the end, Candyman and The Ring that took home the most votes, garnering 34 percent and 16 percent, respectively, of all ballots cast. The two films will be added to MoPOP's list of 100+ Horror Films to See Before You Die, joining The Lost Boys (1987) and Ginger Snaps (2000) — two other It's Coming From Inside the House! horror watchalong selections that earned the most votes from fans a year ago.

Synopsis: Set in Seattle and stands as one of the finest examples of Asian horror remakes from the 2000s. A journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it.
