Keith David is an award-winning actor who has played a wide variety of roles in science fiction and fantasy movies, television shows, and video games.

Born in Harlem, David studied acting at both Manhattan's School of Performing Arts and Julliard School’s Drama Division. He graduated in 1979 and a few years later landed his first motion picture role as Childs in John Carpenter's classic film, The Thing (1982), which launched his acting career. He worked with John Carpenter again in 1988’s science fiction horror classic They Live. In 2000, David starred as Imam in the movie Pitch Black and in the 2004 sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick. In 2012, he co-starred in the science fiction epic Cloud Atlas, based on the novel by David Mitchell.

He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his voice-over performance as the character Goliath in the animated Disney series Gargoyles (1994–1996). More recently, he’s contributed voice acting to Disney's The Princess and the Frog (2009), Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time (2010), and such video game series as Fallout (1987), Mass Effect (2007), Halo (2001), and Saints Row (2006).
