Fredara Mareva Hadley is a professor of Music History at The Juilliard School. Her research centers on how African Americans use music to build and maintain community. She's been published in the Journal of Popular Music Studies, Billboard Magazine, and other outlets. Current research areas include Shirley Graham DuBois, one for the earliest Black women musicologists and opera composers.
